When the hobby soapmaker behind Singing in the Bath sat down with a cup of tea after a busy season of making presents to order for family and friends, she realised that her “hobby” had become an unpaid business. There was no doubt that it was time to start charging and to bring her fine handmade soaps to a paying public!
Unhappy with the quality of shop-bought bars of soap, she had long been sourcing glycerin-rich soap bases as ingredients, but now experimented with adding cocoa and shea butter to some of her soaps as well for an extra-moisturising bar.
Eighteen months on,Singing in the Bath is gaining a reputation as one of the most innovative handmade bath product makers on the current UK craft scene. Whereas most soapmakers will just add one fragrance or essential oil to scent their product, we stand out for our imaginative and unusual fragrance blends. Our two signature scents, available exclusively from our website, are fast becoming best sellers. Most of our blends are suitable as unisex products.
In addition to our boutique-style blends, there is an entire fragrance range devoted to classic Lavender, and lavender based fragrance blends. Our Lavender & Patchouli bar brings the iconic 1960’s fragrance right up to date, and Lavender & Rosemary is ideal for helping to soothe away the stresses and strains of the day.
Each bar is still individually hand-crafted, so you can be certain that your order really is handmade just for you. Many of the bars have added plant butters and oils, and all products are suitable for vegetarians and vegans. No ingredient or end product has ever been tested on animals – in fact, we are proud of our human testing record!
To accompany our fine soaps, we also make bath bombs and bath salts, designed to complement or match our soap blends. These can be purchased separately from our website, www.singinginthebath.co.uk, or as part of one or our five current Fragrance Collections – Spa Collection, Smile Collection, Serenity Collection, In the Kitchen, or French Lavender Field. The Fragrance Collection gift sets start at only £7.95, and these generous boxes contain items not on sale separately. All products are despatched by Royal Mail Special Delivery to ensure safe arrival, or particularly large orders can be couriered on request.
Brand new for 2006 is our range of wedding favours – heart shaped mini soaps or bath bombs for your wedding guests to take away. As everything is handmade to order, we are happy to discuss incorporating your wedding colours, and even making an exclusive fragrance blend for your products.
