  UK Gas Bill Savings

How to Save Money

Save Money on your gas bill

USwitch is accredited by EnergyWatch and can help you find other ways to pay for your gas bill.

U Switch uses some clever technology together with a few details from you to find the best deal in the market for YOU. You can save money on all your utilities bills -gas, electric, telephone and broadband for example, just by checking on their site now. There's no catch...when the UK market was deregulated, in order to ensure that new companies could compete effectively with the existing suppliers of Gas and Electricity, the watchdog allowed what is known as differential pricing to allow the new smaller companies the chance to compete and catch up with British Gas. So, if you buy your Gas from an organisation other than British Gas or your Electricity from an organisation other than your old local electricity board, you should find that the rates for gas and the rates for electricity are far more competitive.

The U Switch calculator works out the cost of each tariff, by using the information you provide and making a few basic assumptions. The U Switch calculator then checks through all the tariffs available (not just the ones offered by U switch) and calculates the money that can be saved by switching from the current supplier. You have the option of looking for organisations that have a high quality of service or for those that offer 'green' electricity as well...so, you can customise the quote to things that matter to you.

Millions of British Gas customers are facing higher bills after British Gas announced a massive 22% increase in prices! Both gas and electricity tariffs will increase by 22% from 1 March 2006. British Gas blamed the increase on huge rises in wholesale prices, which have gone up more than 70% since September.

However, more or less simultaneously, the European Commission commented that these wholesale price rises were a result of some European energy firms holding back gas supplies, so driving up the prices in the UK. But there's no reason why you should suffer...why not check out the U Switch calculator and see how much money you could be saving!

The u Switch energy calculator has been validated by energywatch, the gas and electricity industry's independent watchdog.
