We tested the one day workshop and had a great time. There were about 20 people on the course, some had come alone, others with friends and family. We all sat round in relatively informal groups of 6 or 8 people, with glasses and bottles to hand, on the top floor of a rather special gastropub called the Atlas. Our tutor took us through the basics of tasting wine and gave us some helpful notes so that we could start to distinguish the different types of wine grapes. We got a basic geography lesson...a bit about the terroirs, the regions in France which help to give types of French wines their particular tastes. Whites before lunch set us up perfectly for a mouthwatering meal...and after lunch we covered the red wine types - from Pinot Noir to Margaux.
